The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, helping to lead both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams, and ensuring the business runs smoothly and efficiently while upholding high standards of food safety, quality, and guest experience. , ensuring both areas are well-managed and contribute positively to the overall operation.
Duties
Assist in managing all aspects of hotel or restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
Support the General Manager in daily operations and take responsibility for the business in their absence, including covering holidays and key decision-making.
Take an active role in
bar management
, including staff supervision, stock control, compliance, and ensuring excellent service delivery.
Assist in the planning, coordination, and smooth running of
events
, working closely with the Events team to ensure operational success.
Supervise kitchen and service staff, ensuring adherence to food production standards and health & safety regulations.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Oversee inventory management, including ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels across all departments.
Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to feedback promptly to enhance the overall customer experience.
Implement and deliver training programs for new and existing staff, focusing on hospitality standards, operational efficiency, and compliance.
Assist in developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies to attract and retain customers.
Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, fire safety, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within the hospitality industry (restaurant or hotel experience essential).
Strong knowledge of food safety, bar licensing, and health and safety regulations.
Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a diverse team across multiple departments.
Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with a proactive and solution-focused attitude.
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, guests, and senior management.
Experience in event operations and bar service management is highly desirable.
