- 55000 - 60000+ per annum (Depending on experience)


ALTA brings the lively spirit of asador (grilled meat) restaurants and San Sebastian's vibrant Basque bars to the heart of Soho's iconic Kingly Court. Renowned Head Chef, Rob Roy Cameron, formerly of elBulli (Catalonia) and Rodero (Pamplona, Basque region), brings a wealth of culinary expertise to the kitchen.

As the Assistant General Manager at ALTA,

you'll

be responsible for



You will play a pivotal role in supporting the General Manager and ensuring the smooth running of the restaurant. Your responsibilities will include operational excellence, team leadership, and delivering exceptional guest experiences, while driving profitability and upholding the standards and vision of ALTA. This role requires a proactive approach, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team. You will help foster a positive, inclusive culture and ensure the restaurant operates to the highest standards of service and efficiency.

Approachable, reliable, enthusiastic, and a true supportive team player across all departments including kitchen and bar staff, to ensure smooth operations

An appreciation of Basque cuisine and culture is a plus, but not essential

Support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency and excellence across all areas

Lead by example, inspiring the team to consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences

Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with UK regulations

Collaborate with departmental leaders, including the Head Chef and Bar Manager, to ensure service and menu offerings align with ALTA's brand and standards

Financial Management



Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets and cost controls (labour, food, and beverage) Analyse key performance metrics and contribute to strategies to maximise revenue and minimise waste Maintain strong supplier relationships, supporting the procurement of quality products at competitive prices

Team Development

Play an active role in recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring team members to build a high-performing workforce Conduct training sessions, performance reviews, and regular team meetings to maintain accountability and encourage development Promote and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace

Guest Experience



Engage with guests to build meaningful relationships, address feedback, and ensure any concerns are resolved promptly and effectively Uphold consistency in the guest journey, creating memorable experiences at every touchpoint Represent the restaurant at industry events and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and reputation

Skills



Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and influence teams at all levels Excellent financial acumen, including experience with budgets, P&L, and cost management In-depth understanding of food and beverage operations, coupled with a passion for hospitality Proficient in restaurant management systems (POS, reservations platforms, and scheduling tools)
