Job Description

Vale of Leven Golf Club has an exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant greenkeeper to join our team on a high quality 18-hole course, overlooking Loch Lomond. A short but challenging course, with a unique heathland layout, small greens and stunning views of Loch Lomond and surrounding areas.

We are on the search for someone who has good time management, good communication skills, who is enthusiastic with a positive attitude. You must be prepared and motivated to work outdoors in all conditions.

Main Responsibilities & Duties

(not limited to):

Ensure the playing surface is maintained to the requirements of the sporting body regulations and is safe for players.

Assist in regular maintenance plans and priorities.

Operating and maintaining machinery and tools.

Course setup throughout the year.

Tournament preparation.

Moving and treating turf to ensure the playing surfaces are maintained to the highest standard possible.

Using environmentally friendly treatments to control weeds, fungal diseases and pests.

Maintaining bunkers and other hazards.

Repairing wear and tear caused by golfers and any animal damage i.e., mole hills etc.

Addressing any drainage problems and preventative maintenance measures.

Topdressing.

Planting and pruning trees, bushes as required.

Attention to details on the course and surroundings

Hours:

Around 37-40 hours/week. The hours worked will be longer in spring and summer months. Typical day would start at 6am to prepare course for the day. As course is open seven days per week, weekend work is expected.

Qualifications Required / Preferred:

3 Years experience in a similar role within a golf course or sports turf environment.

HNC or completed apprenticeship.

NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Greenkeeping or a related field.

PA1, PA2 & PA6 certifications

Full understanding of Health & Safety involved in greenkeeping

Proven experience in a similar role within a golf course or sports turf environment.

Strong understanding of golf course operations, maintenance practices and machinery.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Chainsaw certificate desirable, but not essential

A full driving license is preferable.

Interest in playing golf.
