Lincoln Golf Club is a prestigious private members club with a loyal membership base. Founded in 1891, the club attracts large events both regionally and nationally for England Golf and the R&A due to the championship standard course that is well regarded by many, as one of the finest in the East Midlands. The club are actively investing in the golf course and the greens team which creates an exciting opportunity for the correct candidate.
Over the last five years, works have included a full course irrigation system, investment in a new fleet of TORO Greens Machinery, improved working sheds, improved rest room facilities for the team, an employee benefits package, remuneration inline with the BIGGA recommendations and the start of our course alterations with Fine Turf and Ken Moodie of Creative Golf Design, where to date, we have completed holes 1,2,3,4,5,7, 9, 10, 14 & 18, and have plans to continue this during 2025. The club are looking to continue this forward trajectory, investing further in both the team and the golf course which will see completion of all 18 holes.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, the Assistant Greenkeeper is carry out routine golf course entrusted with helping to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the golf course for the clubs' members and guests in accordance with the Club's Course maintenance policy and its H&S policy . The position is full time. A flexible approach is required along with some weekend, overtime work, according to a rota system
The main duties include but are not restricted to:
Assisting the team in all aspects of greenkeeping, including: cutting all playing surfaces, changing holes,
setting up golf course for play, including changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating OOB, drop zones and hazards
Applying top dressing, fertilisers and sprays
Identifying and controlling pests and diseases
Preparing, operating and maintaining golf course machinery
Ensuring that the course is presented in the best possible condition to exceed meet the expectations of members and visitors.
Assisting with construction, aeration, and renovation works.
Able to safely operate a wide range of golf course machinery.
Willingness to undertake specific training on machinery and other working practices.
Knowledge and qualifications
Previous experience is essential and a level 2/3 qualification in sports turf is preferable
Spraying and chainsaw license preferable
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and can work well in a team or alone
Ability to undertake daily turf maintenance carried out to a high standard
Competent to operate a wide range with golf course machinery
Ability to follow health and safety guidelines
Weekend work required on a rota basis
Driving License
