Job Description

Position: Assistant House Parent (Residential) Contract Type: Permanent: Working pattern 40 hours per week on a 3-week rolling basis which includes weekends. Term time only plus additional weeks during the holiday periods to cover holiday school duties.

Salary: 34,516.39 FTE pro-rata to weeks worked

Ruthin School, a prestigious independent school, is looking for a committed and energetic Assistant House Parent to join our dedicated boarding team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a warm, supportive and diverse environment where no two days are ever the same.

This role offers the chance for the successful candidate to be part of the leadership team for one of our thriving boarding houses, ensuring excellent standards of pastoral care for pupils and deputising for the House Parent in their absence.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the pupils in the house have a safe and happy living environment in which they feel supported.

You will be required to be present in the House prior to the start of each term to help the school prepare for the return of the boarders. The role also includes Holiday School duties, supporting international students attending our summer and holiday programmes. You will help deliver a fun, safe and engaging experience through activities, excursions and evening events.

The nature of a 24 hour a day, 7 days per week school requires staff to work flexibly.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the daily routines of boarders, including morning and evening duties

Provide academic and pastoral support including help with prep.

Assisting with the organisation of evening and weekend activities

Supporting pupils as needed during the day

What we are looking for

Educated to A-level or equivalent

Substantial experience of working with young people

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to supervise activities and trips
