We're looking for...



... a dedicated Assistant Housekeeping Manager to ensure the smooth running and efficient operation of the Housekeeping department including laundry, public spaces (including the building exterior and grounds), team areas and apartments through the leadership and management of the Housekeeping team.

Key responsibilities



People



To provide training and development for employees in Housekeeping procedures.

To develop a close working relationship with all departments, colleagues and managers to ensure guest expectations are met.

To develop strong working relationships with all guests in order to exceed their expectations and generate business for the future.

To foresee and make provision for peaks and troughs in staff levels so that staff shortages are not a common factor.

To develop and maintain a pool of staff who will help us cover all eventualities.

To ensure the development of all employees within the department to continue to deliver and improve upon the service we offer.

To ensure interview and selection is carried out in a professional manner and the senior management team conducts those final interviews.

To provide a programme of basic training for all new members of staff and to communicate performance and development issues on a regular basis.

To ensure that all training activity is recorded and evaluated.

To ensure no new member of staff or management is allowed to work without having been properly introduced to the company.

To use time strategically to be present in the department to monitor, coach and control where necessary to improve efficiency and performance.

Financial



To ensure the Housekeeping department meets budgeted targets.

To maximise productivity of the department by implementing appropriate training and communication systems.

To understand the construction of a budget and how to influence profit and loss results.

To assist in the preparation of budgets.

To ensure stock security and control of expenditure is maintained at all times.

To ensure that the stock is checked monthly, and the monetary value is passed to the Accounts Manager.

To manage the departments' payroll in line with forecasted business.

Service and Product



To maintain levels of cleanliness and styling that consistently exceeds the expectations of our guests.

To understand the importance of styling, cleanliness and language in the department to ensure the correct ambience is maintained at all times, and to work to the Brand Standards at all times.

To be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all public areas and bedrooms within the property, and with the maintenance department, ensure the highest standards are met.

To ensure that all department safety and security procedures are adhered to and reviewed consistently.

To ensure knowledge of product, client relationships and services is maintained and communicated to all relevant personnel.

To evaluate performance and standards on a regular basis in order to recognise challenges for the future.

To ensure effective daily communication with Reception, Reservations, and the management team.

General



To ensure all statutory regulations are adhered to, and to ensure that all employees are trained to uphold the conditions of our licenses.

To undertake any reasonable requests made of you by the company including flexibility in hours, location and responsibilities.

To proactively manage key suppliers (laundry, linen and cleaning suppliers) to ensure service levels, costs and operational issues are closely controlled and managed.

Be willing to help other departments of the aparthotel wherever possible and to understand the flexibility required when business levels peak and trough, to deliver the best possible service.

To ensure that all-statutory regulations are observed, and that the department comply with these requirements.

To comply with all policies and procedures as written in the staff handbook.

Requirements



GCSE English Language or equivalent.

Genuine interest in the serviced apartment / hotel industry.

Outgoing and confident with a sense of professionalism at all times.

Able to work in a fast-paced and customer service driven environment.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Knowledge of OPERA software preferred.

Knowledge of MS Word.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.

Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Package



Salary: 28,000 - 30,000 DOE

Shift pattern: 5 days over 8am - 5pm.

Holiday entitlement: 28 days p.a.

Pension

Bonus Potential: 6% of Salary based on KPI's and financial performance.
