Key Responsibilities
? Management Accounts: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cashflow reports, ensuring data integrity and alignment with organisational goals.
? Month-End Processes: Take ownership of month-end close activities--posting and reviewing accruals, prepayments, and depreciation journals--and ensuring completeness of financial data.
? Reconciliations: Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts (bank, payroll, creditors, debtors, VAT, and deferred revenue), investigating discrepancies and resolving issues proactively.
? Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support the Finance Manager in overseeing AP/AR processes, maintaining accurate records, monitoring outstanding balances, and contributing to the monthly consolidation process.
? Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, analysing variances against actual performance to provide insight for decision-making.
? Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct monthly variance analysis, prepare first-draft management commentary, and highlight trends or anomalies to support leadership decisions.
? Audit and Compliance: Prepare audit schedules, support year-end audit processes, and ensure adherence to statutory and internal compliance requirements.
? Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and controls, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as the organisation grows.
? Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to provide financial insight, foster transparency, and support cross-functional projects or initiatives as required.
Qualifications and Skills
? Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience.
? Solid understanding of management accounting principles, reconciliations, and deferred revenue accounting.
? Strong proficiency with Xero and advanced Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, lookups, etc.).
? Experience working in a fast-paced SME or growing organisation, ideally within the education or technology sectors.
? Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively within a remote team.
? Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines in a changing environment.
What We Offer
? Fully remote working with occasional in-person team sessions in London (four times per year).
? A supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture within a purpose-driven organisation.
? Opportunities for professional development and career growth within a fast-scaling company.
? Employee well-being initiatives and access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
