A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a friendly welcoming team at Positive Step Social Care Assessment Unit as an Assistant Manager.

  • Will provide shift leadership, direction and management of resources which include staff, finance, equipment and the building.
  • To identify and bring to the Deputy Manager\xe2\x80\x99s attention any issues that may impact upon the safe delivery of care.
  • Manage the daily rota to ensure that any planned and unplanned activities are undertaken using staff in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • As delegated by the Deputy Manager lead on monthly care, domestics and cooks meetings both individually and jointly to ensure successful communication on all aspects of running the unit.
  • Supporting the Registered and Deputy Manager to develop the statement of purpose setting out the aims, objectives and philosophy of care for the unit, Directorate and Council. Lead on embedding this within the Assessment unit.
  • Will have shift responsibility for the safety of staff, service users and visitors to the unit ensuring that weekly and monthly Health and Safety audits are undertaken where delegated by the Deputy Manager.
  • Ensure that any building and health and safety issues are identified and rectified in line with the DMBC Health & Safety management toolkit.
  • Assist the Deputy Manager to implement the Team Plan.
  • As delegated by the Deputy Manager undertake relevant PDR\xe2\x80\x99s and supervision in line with corporate targets and Essential Care Standards. Assist the Deputy Manager to identify overall staff development needs and solutions.
  • As requested by the Registered and Deputy Manager participate in the development of policy practice and procedures.
  • Assist the registered and Deputy Manager with the recruitment, selection and induction process of new staff including ensuring all clearances.
  • Manage staff Attendance and sickness in line with the Managing Attendance procedure.
  • Develop and maintain good professional relationships within the multi disciplinary team, Care Home Liaison Service, G.Ps and any other allied professional.
  • Establish, develop and maintain good links with the local community and voluntary sector organisations, maximising the use of voluntary resources and people.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive image of the Assessment unit and the Council when dealing with relatives, professionals and other member of the public.
  • Use systems and processes that are in place for the production of performance data, records and reports as required by the Registered Manager.
  • Implementation of the In house Quality Assurance Framework.
  • Ensure service delivery in line with CQC Essential Standards and DMBC contracts monitoring.
  • Responsibility to ensure that all vulnerable adults are safeguarded against abuse by ensuring that the Doncaster Safeguarding Adults procedures are implemented and that staff are fully conversant with their responsibilities in line with this.
  • As delegated by the Deputy Manager, chair routine regular service user reviews, case conferences and admission/discharge meetings, ensuring appropriate involvement of clients, relatives, professional colleagues and managers.
  • Ensure that the social, emotional and recreational needs of the service users are identified and met via the care plans; specific measuring tools and reabling plans Ensure that these Care Plans are implemented within the service user\xe2\x80\x99s daily routine and recreation activities.
  • Lead and embed a systematic care planning process ensuring that the assessments and implementation produce measurable and agreed outcomes.
  • Identify and report to the Deputy Manager potential under or overspend or budget concerns.
  • Ensure that all finances, including petty cash, service users\xe2\x80\x99s monies, amenities fund and any other finances entrusted to the unit are implemented in accordance with financial procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and audit both the cleaning schedules and standards of cleanliness with the unit.
  • Assisting the Deputy Manager to ensure that the nutritional needs and wishes of the service users are met by leading on regular meetings and menu planning with the involvement of the service users and Cook.
  • .Day to day responsibility for the safe keeping and administration of medication.
These duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exclusive nor exhaustive as the post holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities within the Directorate, commensurate with the grading of the post, without changing the general character of the post.

It is all employees\xe2\x80\x99 responsibility for individual Health and Safety in the work place and to be aware of other staff, service users and visitors to the unit\xe2\x80\x99s health and well-being by adhering to the unit\xe2\x80\x99s health and safety procedures. The post is available on a permanent contract, working a rota pattern which covers 7 days a week and includes weekends and Bank Holidays. The shifts are working are between the hours of 07:00 hours and 22:00 hours, with flexibility being essential.
