Job Purpose
To support the day-to-day running of our family-owned pizza van by supervising shifts, managing staff, and ensuring excellent food quality and customer service. The Assistant Manager will take responsibility for smooth operations when on shift and act as a key point of contact for staff.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Shift Management
Supervise the pizza van during service hours
Preparation and cooking of pizzas
Open and close the van as required
Ensure smooth, efficient running of each shift
Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation
Monitor stock levels and report shortages
Staff Supervision
Lead, motivate, and supervise staff during shifts
Allocate tasks and manage workflow during service
Support training of new team members
Handle minor staff issues and escalate where necessary
Time & Performance Management
Manage service timing to ensure fast, efficient customer service
Ensure staff are punctual and working to agreed schedules
Assist with rota planning and shift cover when required
Customer Service
Deliver friendly, professional customer service
Handle customer queries or complaints calmly and effectively
