About Us

The Muskham Ferry is a well-established village pub, known for its welcoming atmosphere, great drinks, and quality food. We're looking for a reliable, experienced Assistant Manager to support the owner in day-to-day operations and help lead our team.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you'll work alongside our front-of-house team but take on additional responsibilities to ensure smooth running of the pub and kitchen. You'll be trusted to manage the business when the owner is unavailable, helping to reduce their workload and maintain high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service and lead by example on the bar and floor Open and close the pub, including locking up and setting alarms Cashing up, till management, and daily banking Support with stock management: bar, cellar, and kitchen supplies Visit wholesalers and collect stock as required (own vehicle essential) Oversee kitchen operations alongside the cook, ensuring service runs smoothly Help coordinate food service, managing communication between front-of-house and kitchen Ensure hygiene, food safety, and licensing standards are followed Supervise and support team members during your shift Deal with customer issues professionally and promptly Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and customers Support the owner with other operational tasks as needed

About You

Experienced bar staff member with strong knowledge of pub operations (pumps, cellar, tills, etc.) Some experience or understanding of food service and kitchen operations Confident in managing shifts and leading a team across both bar and kitchen Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential) Reliable, trustworthy, and able to take responsibility when the owner is off site Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail Approachable and customer-focused, with the ability to handle issues calmly and fairly Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
