Tucked beneath the beautiful 1920s Abbeydale Picture House, Abbeydale Ballroom (formerly Picture House Social) is a brand-new late-night bar built for the curious, the social, and the spirited. Think outstanding cocktails, local craft beer, pool tables, games, curated events, and a menu of top-notch pizzas and bites. A place to catch the game or just catch up with friends. We're on the lookout for an Assistant Manager who's as passionate about building something special as we are.
About the Role:
As Assistant Manager, you're second-in-command - and vital to bringing our vision to life. You'll support the GM in leading the day-to-day operation, inspiring a tight-knit team, and helping us shape a venue that's as welcoming as it is exciting. You'll have the autonomy to make your mark - from developing events and experiences to helping create menus and shaping the vibe of the Ballroom.
This is a dynamic, varied role that'll see you mixing your love for people and service with your sharp eye for detail and process. You'll bring energy, creativity, and leadership - and play a key role in delivering a space the community wants to keep coming back to.
What You'll Bring:
2+ years of management experience in hospitality (ideally in bars, pubs, or experience-led venues)
Highly organised, task-focused and efficient under pressure
A personal licence
Strong leadership & people skills - coaching, mentoring, building a great team culture
A passion for cocktails, spirits & beer, and the growing low & no market
Ideally experience in wet-led, late-night venues with high energy
A collaborative approach to event planning, live music & community engagement
A real enthusiasm for delivering sports, whether you're managing the matchday atmosphere or creating a space for everyone to enjoy
A hands-on approach for stock control and cost management
Confidence in IT systems, rota planning, GP & labour tracking, and other day-to-day logistics
Your Responsibilities:
Support the GM in delivering an exceptional, experience-led venue
Lead, coach and inspire a talented team across all departments
Assist with training, appraisals, recruitment & shift management
Take responsibility for set KPIs, compliance, and daily operations
Play a key role in creating and delivering events, menus, and atmosphere
Be a friendly, professional face for guests and team alike
Ensure high standards of service, cleanliness & safety
Cash handling, key holding & end of night reporting
