Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Assistant Manager/Sommelier to join our esteemed establishment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of wines and beverages, along with exceptional customer service skills. You will play a vital role in enhancing the dining experience by providing expert wine recommendations and ensuring that our guests receive outstanding service. Your expertise will contribute to the overall hospitality and atmosphere of our restaurant.

Responsibilities

Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that complements the menu offerings. Provide personalised wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and meal choices. Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff to enhance their knowledge of wines and pairings. Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily business operations. Assist in hiring , training and onboarding new team Assist in catering events by providing wine selections that align with the event theme and menu. Stay updated on industry trends, new releases, and emerging regions to continually enhance the wine programme.

Experience

Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant, fine dining or upmarket venue or equivalent is essential. A strong understanding of food safety practices related to beverage service is required. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and catering services is advantageous. Experience in bartending or mixology can be beneficial for enhancing beverage offerings beyond wine. Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service are crucial for success in this role. A passion for helping others enjoy their dining experience through expert guidance on wines is highly valued.
