An exciting opportunity has arisen to work along side the passionate owner/manager of a small 48 place nursery, where we truly believe in making lasting memories for our children.
We are seeking a visionary, energetic and positive person with a real 'can do' attitude to support the owner/manager in the day to day running of the setting. Previous management experience working in a children's day nursery is essential. Consideration will be given to applicants who have worked as a supernumerary Deputy Manager, who can demonstrate they have managed a nursery in the managers absence and whom possess the skills required to develop into this post. The position would also suit experienced setting managers who are looking to reduce the number of hours they work/semi-retire.
For two to three days per week, the successful candidate will work alongside the manager/owner modelling outstanding practice to the staff team and implementing the settings action and development plans. In time, the expectation is that the candidate will manage the nursery part-time in the owners absence.
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out management tasks to ensure the smooth running of the nursery, including the sensitive management and deployment of a staff team of 12, place planning, dealing with parent/carer enquiries, working with external stakeholders, overseeing planning, cleaning and routines, implementing staff training and arranging fun and engaging opportunities for the children who attend our family focused setting. The setting is inclusive and committed to caring for children from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of individual needs. Therefore, candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they would adapt to ensure every child is treated as a unique individual learner.
There may be the occasional need to work in the rooms to ensure our child to staff ratio is always met, but this will be infrequent. There will also be a need to work full time infrequently when the owner is absent/on holiday.
We care for children from 9 months to 4 years of age in four rooms. Additionally we provide wrap-around care for children aged up to 10 years of age and a holiday club.
Candidates must posses a Level 3 childcare qualification as a minimum, with the required GCSE grades to validate the qualification (if applicable). Potential to enhance your career to a BA Early Childhood Studies Degree could be accommodated as we are extremely focused on Continual Professional Development.
We are committed to Safer Recruitment and therefore applicants will be required to complete a company application form and undertake a DBS (formally CRB) check. A full employment history must be provided and any gaps in employment satisfactorily explained. References will be taken prior to employment. We will consider a September start date for the right candidate.
