Job Summary:



The Assistant Operations Accountant plays a key role within the Credit Control team, supporting the credit control managers across the various entities, supporting offshore teams with bank reconciliations and reporting, active engagement in the bank rationalisation project, assisting with internal and external audits and supporting process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Reconcile bank accounts and produce a limited number of Bordereaux. Monitor bank account activity and assist in calculating investment sweeps. Review external credit controller bank reconciliations; provide cash allocation metrics to Service Company Finance. Participate in the BSOL/BSIL bank rationalisation project and support resolution of variances. Manage the monthly coinsurance production, and payments, including DD commissions and UAT of the payment automation project. Assist underwriting with premium queries related to EPI and signings. Prepare ad hoc reports and coordinate internal reporting activities. Support credit control projects and internal/external audits. Continuously improve the credit control function; propose and implement process improvements.

Education & Qualifications:

Studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA, ACA (preferred)

Skills & Abilities:

Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables) Strong understanding of double-entry accounting Problem-solving mindset with willingness to challenge existing processes High attention to detail; numerate and analytical Strong time management and prioritisation Excellent written and verbal communication Self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently or as part of a team Proficient in MS Office Suite

Knowledge & Experience:

Understanding of insurance company accounting and operations (preferred)

Experience in:

Balance sheet reconciliations and trial balance management Financial control processes Process improvement and project implementation Working with finance, underwriting, and banking systems

Aptitude & Disposition:

Flexible, enthusiastic, and self-driven Diplomatic and professional with ability to interact at all levels Willingness to get involved in details and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Desirable (Not Essential):

Experience with process/system change implementation Experience in Lloyd's/general insurance environment Knowledge of Xchanging processes (e.g., premiums and claims)
