We are a growing provider of specialist orthotic products, dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults. Due to our continued expansion, we're looking for a
to join our friendly and highly skilled team. You'll play a key role in the production of bespoke orthoses including leg splints, spinal braces, wrist/arm supports, neck braces, and protective helmets - each tailored to the unique needs of our patients following clinical assessments.
What You'll Do
You will receive full training to support both the initial and final stages of the orthosis manufacturing process. Your responsibilities will include:
Initial Manufacturing Stage:
Producing plaster of Paris casts that form the base of our custom orthoses
Adapting and modifying casts through blocking, filling, and stripping techniques
Assisting with drape moulding and vacuum forming using various plastics
Drawing, cutting, and shaping plastic components for orthosis fabrication
Using tools such as oscillating saws, drills, and grinding/polishing machines
Processing incoming deliveries and distributing materials to relevant departments
Final Manufacturing Stage:
Assembling orthotic components into the final product
Creating and attaching foam padding and straps for comfort and fit
Working with materials including leather, foam, and thermoplastics
Operating industrial sewing machines and finishing tools
Additional Responsibilities:
Interpreting technical instructions and clinical information provided by our orthotists
Working to established procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing deadlines
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace
Supporting production targets with a motivated, team-oriented approach
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with a practical, creative background - whether from design, crafts, or hands-on technical roles. Ideal candidates will be:
Practical and enjoy working with their hands
Comfortable using both hand tools and powered machinery
Creative, detail-focused, and deadline-driven
Strong communicators (verbal and written) with good numeracy skills
Physically fit, with the ability to manage manual lifting
Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Eager to learn, with a positive "can-do" attitude
Capable of high-volume production without compromising on quality
Desirable (but not essential):
A background in 3D Design & Craft, Product Design, or a similar discipline
Previous experience in orthotics or a related healthcare manufacturing field

25,400 per year, rising with experience
