Job Description

Clearing & Payments department supports the Bank in a back office capacity, supporting the bank's operational processing for various banking product, working with retail branches and Front office teams to support London Branch and Subsidiary customers. As an Assistant - Payments, you will be assisting with the operational processing of domestic and international payments, ensuring payments are processed accurately and efficiently. You will be collaborating with various teams and departments to resolve a variety of payment and banking queries in accordance with the Bank's policies, SLA's and relevant regulations. This is a permanent full time position.

Key responsibilities



Process a range of domestic and cross-border payments including, but not exclusive to BACS, CHAPS, SWIFT, Giro Credits and Faster Payments, UK domestic cheque clearing and bank draft clearing Set up and process regular customer payments such as Standing Orders and Direct Debits Investigate and resolve any operational processing issues, general payment queries and prepare payment returns Responsible for daily record keeping Assist with system testing for system implementation and upgrades Uphold high customer satisfaction standards Ensure the capturing of statistical information for reporting Maintain electronic and paper filing systems as required in line with document retention policies Maintain professional and mutually beneficial working relationships with cross functional teams to ensure the Bank can achieve its business targets Cover other team members when required This role requires working in weekly shift patterns

Requirements



Degree educated preferably in Finance, Economics or Accounting Experience in payment products and processes Awareness of payments risk management Good numeracy skills Good analytical and problem solving skills Highly organised and able to work in a fast paced environment whilst being able to deliver high quality Attention to detail Proficient in MS Office particularly in the use of MS Excel Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with both IT and non-IT audiences Team player
