Assistant Payroll Manager Job description

Human Resources are seeking a permanent part-time Assistant Payroll Manager. (27 hours per week).

In this role, you will:-

  • Manage staff, supporting team members and managers as required.
  • Provide direct support to the payroll manager to define, review and monitor payroll service performance.
  • Working within the wider team to support key projects
  • Develop staff, processes and systems for the payroll team and provide guidance to team members where required
  • Manage the development process for implementing approved changes relating to the Council\xe2\x80\x99s Payroll Service and work with relevant colleagues across the Council on impacts of changes on any associated applications
  • Manage all payroll activity associated with payroll processing, statutory reporting, financial reconciliation and payslip and statutory return production
  • Respond to complex queries and complaints and escalate issues where required
Key skills and experience required include:-
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills, including conflict resolution, customer service and ability to motivate self and others
  • Strong analytical skills, being able to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions
  • Ability to take ownership of any problem and see through to resolution
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to react under pressure
  • Approachable member of the team
