HB Public Law, one of the country's leading shared local authority legal practices, has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer to join our Housing and Civil Litigation Team as an Assistant Principal Lawyer. HB Public Law is an innovative and ambitious Lexcel accredited legal practice serving four local authority clients, schools and other public bodies in London and the home counties. We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality ervice and offer a supportive and friendly working environment with colleagues who are dedicated to public service and making a difference in local communities.
The team has a varied caseload including all aspects of housing law, civil litigation, debt recovery, and other matters, including the opportunity to advise councillors at licensing sub-committee.
The closing date is Monday the 4th of August 2025.
About you:
The successful candidate will have previous housing and civil litigation experience and ideally some supervision/management experience. You should be passionate about teamwork and developing others, as well as supporting the wider legal practice. The role involves requires effective management supervision of staff in the team, dealing with complicated and sometimes high-profile legal work, as well as supporting the Principal Lawyer to maintain strong client relationships. Good client care skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with others is essential.
The successful candidate will be expected help build a high-performance culture within the team and play an important role in supporting career progression and developing public sector lawyers of the future.
The legal practice works in a hybrid fashion, and you will be expected to work from our Harrow office at least one to two days per week, and/or at client offices and court when required.
