Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Professor of Bladder Cancer (Honorary Consultant Urologist), Department of Surgery.


This post offers unrivalled opportunity to undertake high quality research within an outstanding academic and clinical environment. Applicants should hold GMC specialist registration or be eligible for entry on the Register or within six months of receipt of a certificate of completion of training at time of interview. You will also require medical defence cover for the duration of your appointment. Applicants should hold clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK certificate of completion of training in urology, and training required to fulfil all aspects of the clinical role with an emphasis on treatment of bladder cancer, but also with a general urology and on-call commitment.


You are required to hold a PhD/DPhil/MD at the time of your application. Candidates should have a developing bibliography of research publications, a track record of securing research funding and expertise in clinical trial conduct.


The successful candidate will be appointed on the Clinical Consultant scale for Assistant Professor (Honorary Consultant Urologist) and can take up the appointment as soon as possible. For University Assistant Professors the appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a five-year probationary period.


This is an integrated appointment between the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and as such requires an Honorary Clinical Contract, which will be issued by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.
