Competitive starting salary range from 46,115 up to 52,597 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role

As Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Aviation Human Factors you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Assistant Professors (Teaching) lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.





Based within the College of Engineering, Environment and Science you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.





Duties include:




Lead the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials including Curriculum development. Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate students as they undertake individual and group projects Support the delivery of CPD courses where appropriate

Qualifications Required

Master's degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership



A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education



Experience in an aviation context is essential.



PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous.

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in human factors, ideally in aviation, with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.



You should have excellent, up-to-date knowledge in both theoretical and applied knowledge in aviation human factors and be able to link current themes and state-of-the-art applications in your teaching, sharing our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do.





An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.





Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an 'active learning' pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.





As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner's cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.





Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
