About the role
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of business change initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage small projects independently and assist with larger programmes, all while developing your project management skills in a collaborative and values-driven environment.
You'll play a key role in maintaining project documentation, applying project controls, and engaging stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage small, less complex projects from initiation to delivery using Onward's Project Methodology.
Support Project Managers in delivering larger, more complex projects and programmes.
Assist in maintaining project plans, schedules, budgets, and key documentation (RAID logs, lessons learned, action trackers).
Engage with stakeholders and workstream leads to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
Facilitate project meetings, prepare agendas, capture minutes, and follow up on actions.
Monitor project progress and escalate risks or issues as needed.
Provide a high-quality service aligned with our values of Respect, Creativity, and Excellence*.
Collaborate with teams across the business to ensure successful project outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in a Business Change or Service Improvement environment.
Understanding of the project lifecycle and experience applying project controls (schedule, resources, budget, RAID).
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desirable Skills & Experience
Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Planner, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project management methodologies.
Qualifications
Essential: Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent.
* Desirable: Project Management Foundation qualification or equivalent.
