Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

"We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Work Pack Lead (Decommissioning Programme) to work within the established Pond Project team at our Hunterston A Site. The Decommissioning Programme is at the forefront of the site's hazard reduction efforts and has responsibility for delivery of Pond Decommissioning Programme and the Plant and Structures Programme of work. This role puts you at the leading edge of our decommissioning efforts on site working on pond building decommissioning tasks and operation and decommissioning of the various effluent treatment plants across the site. We aspire to safe and effective delivery of meaningful hazard reduction work in a highly challenging but highly rewarding environment.


Working with an established multi-disciplinary team, the Work Pack Lead role is essential to the safe and effective delivery of self-perform activities, providing the key liaison between the Project Managers and Engineers and the Team Leaders and delivery operatives. Good planning, logical thinking and clear communications are essential to this challenging role as is the ability to lead by example to encourage a safety first working culture."


Please note the contractual hours for this role are 07.30 - 17.15 Monday - Thursday, perfect for someone looking for a four day working week.




Key Deliverables




Contribute to the creation and coordination of overall project plans, schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans. Work within the organisation Safety Rules, undertaking the duties of Competent Person as required. Monitor performance and take action as necessary to maintain and improve performance. Support the consistent application of project procedures for performance of administrative, project and design tasks in accordance with Project Management Process and Procedures. Perform basic project management functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems. Support identification and evaluation of issues and events that may constitute an increase or decrease in project or service scope, cost, or schedule. Actively identify 'Lessons Learned' from current and completed projects. Support the application of experiences to maximise the effectiveness of Company project delivery. Carry out and oversee decommissioning tasks within the limits of your own skills and competence (training can be provided) including but not limited to: + decontamination of concrete tanks and walls
+ de-planting and size reduction of various redundant plant items
+ processing and packaging of waste items in preparation for disposal via the appropriate waste route
+ plant operations relating to the site's various effluent treatment facilities
+ crane driving, rigging slinging and signalling and other forklift truck/ site vehicle operations in accordance with your own skills and competencies duties etc

Compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety Environment and Quality on Site.

Qualifications




Educated to HNC/D or equivalent (NQF level 4 as a minimum) in a relevant discipline -

Essential.

Certification in project management suggested, for example APM - PMQ -

Desirable.

CITB Site Management Safety training Scheme SMSTS -

Desirable.



Experience - Desirable




Demonstrable experience in a highly regulated industry in, including; engineering, procurement, construction/construction management. Experience of working in complex organisations (Matrix Management). Flexible and adaptable approach, willing to take on new work challenges. Ability to maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing own assignments and tasks. Proactive communicator both internally and externally to the project. Technical writing skills. Customer focused with ability to develop and maintain positive and interactive project relationships. Demonstrated active and innovative approach to problem solving and identifying solutions thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills. Proactive reporting of progress and status of assignments including appropriate follow up.

Flexible working - where possible. The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
