Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile, proactive, and detail-oriented Assistant Property Manager to take responsibility for the effective management of health & safety compliance and asset planning across the Kennford Group. This role requires strong multi-tasking capabilities and a hands-on approach to managing risk, property compliance, and asset performance across a diverse set of businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety & Compliance
Lead all health & safety activities across the business, including petrol stations, hotels, and residential sites.
Conduct regular H&S audits and inspections; ensure full compliance with current UK health, safety, environmental, and fire safety legislation.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and site-specific risk assessments.
Manage all statutory deadlines and bookings for inspections, servicing, testing, and regulatory compliance tasks.
Investigate incidents and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
Provide ongoing H&S training and support to site managers and staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
Liaise with external inspectors, contractors, regulatory bodies, and enforcement agencies as required.
Work in close coordination with senior leadership to align health, safety, and staff wellbeing initiatives.
Prepare and present regular compliance and safety reports to directors and key stakeholders.
Asset & Maintenance Management
Maintain a detailed inventory of all physical assets (buildings, equipment, and systems), including tracking condition, usage, and lifecycle.
Plan and oversee preventive maintenance to reduce asset downtime and extend asset lifespan.
Forecast budgets for maintenance, repairs, and asset replacement; ensure cost-effective planning and procurement.
Coordinate with service providers and internal teams to deliver timely upkeep and asset performance across all locations.
Conduct regular property checks to ensure all facilities meet operational and compliance standards.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a multi-site operational, compliance, or estate management role (ideally in fuel retail, hospitality, or property sectors).
Solid working knowledge of UK health & safety regulations and statutory property requirements.
Strong planning, organizational, and administrative skills with attention to detail.
Experience with budgeting, cost forecasting, and contractor/vendor management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working across departments and levels.
Full UK driving license and flexibility to travel to sites regularly.
