LPFT recognises that a significant proportion of psychology graduates want to develop a career in health and care, but can find it hard to find a way in.
Owing to the intersectional nature of disadvantage and an unpaid volunteer culture, these have contributed to disproportionate disadvantage for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic psychology graduates, graduates who are socio-economically disadvantaged and psychology graduates who have caring responsibilities.
To try and begin addressing these issues additional funding has been secured by LPFT from NHS England to develop an access scheme offering paid opportunities for aspiring clinical psychologists to gain clinical experience.
We are now offering 2 opportunities of paid experience as an Assistant Psychologist for psychology graduates who otherwise would be disadvantaged as they are less able to volunteer their time.
The 2 posts will be fixed-term for 9 months and part-time (3 days and 2.5 days), but we may be able to alter these hours to suit caring or other work responsibilities.
