We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Assistant Clinical Psychologist to work within the Neurological Rehabilitation Service in East & North Hertfordshire. The post holder will work within the Community Neurorehabilitation Team. The community team is a multi-disciplinary team, comprised of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Nurses, Rehabilitation Assistants and Clinical Psychologists. We take patients with a range of neurological presentations, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease from acute hospital and community settings and provide goal-focused rehabilitation. The team forms part of a wider neurological rehabilitation pathways that run through the Neurological Service in Hertfordshire, which includes a team of Clinical Psychologists, providing opportunities for continued professional development.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Clinical Psychologist within the service with assessment and intervention work. They will be involved with audit, service-evaluation and research as opportunities arise. The post is 0.5 WTE (18.75 hours per week over 3 working days), for a fixed term contract of twelve months. The post-holder will be based at Danesbury Rehabilitation Hospital, Welwyn and will be expected to travel across the East and North of Hertfordshire. The post holder will be professionally supervised by a Clinical Psychologist.
Car driver is essential, or access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).

• Upper second class honours degree in psychology
• Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
• Further postgraduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis is desirable

Experience and Knowledge

• Previous experience working as an Assistant Psychologist.
• Paid or voluntary experience of working with people with neurological conditions, other disabilities or mental health problems.
• Knowledge and understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
• Experience of paid work in direct care provision.
• An understanding of psychology applied to a neuropsychology context.
• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in the application of statistical knowledge, research design and analysis is desirable.
• Experience in audit and service evaluation is desirable.
• A desire to explore a career in Clinical Psychology.
