Job Description

1 Full time role available (37.5 hours per week) in Bariatric Surgery



1 Part time role available (18.75 hours per week) in Specialist Adult Weight Management



The successful candidate will work alongside the specialist MDT including psychologists to assess and support patients within the obesity care pathway of the Homerton Healthcare NHS Trust.



Under supervision of the Senior Psychologists, the post-holder will provide a range of psychological and MDT assessments and brief interventions, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles, to individuals who are being considered for or are adjusting to a weight loss surgery procedure.

The role will also include joint working and consultation with other health and medical professionals in the team.



The main duties for the role are as follows:



Complete MDT assessments including assessing psychological readiness to change and mental health complexity to patients who are being considered for or are adjusting to a weight loss surgery procedure



Provide brief psychological treatments under



To deliver group based psychological intervention under supervision within the context of MDT based intervention



Appropriate to the banding of the role, undertake observations and consultations, and give feedback at



Liaise with and signpost to local mental health services for parallel interventions according to needs identified in patient assessment



To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.



To assist in the preparation and delivery of in-service training/teaching sessions to healthcare professions from other disciplines (nurses, therapists, medical doctors, surgeons) and presentations in local clinical
