Job Description

Supervisory responsibility for the psychological therapies assistant To conduct neuropsychological assessments with clients. All work will be supervised by a consultant psychologist. To formulate and deliver rehab-care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems, under the supervision of a consultant psychologist. To formulate and deliver therapeutic group intervention under supervision of a consultant psychologist.



To develop and provide training to professionals and non-professionals involved in offering input to the STEPS clients. Agree and put together care pathways for new clients entering STEPS under the supervision of the consultant psychologist. Support the empowerment of other teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills and professional confidence around the needs of clients. Agree and put together care pathways for new clients entering STEPS under the supervision of the consultant psychologist. Support the empowerment of other teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills and professional confidence around the needs of clients. To work as part of a wide inter-disciplinary team, liaising frequently with all colleagues including Rehabilitation Medicine consultant, OT, physiotherapy, SLT, nurses and rehabilitation assistants To support and enhance the STEPS psychology service by carrying out or supervising in clinically related administration, audits and research projects contributing to service delivery and development, delegating tasks associated with these processes as appropriate. To use published research and information on good practice regularly to keep clinical practice up-to-date and evidence based.



Using own initiative to seek out CPD (Continuing Professional Development) annually. To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes or to supervise these activities being carried out where appropriate. To prepare complex neuropsychological assessment reports for a variety of audiences, under the supervision of the consultant psychologist. To promote and monitor the accurate recording of behavioural data within the service, and to prepare behavioural reports for client review meetings or to supervise the carrying out of this activity.



To attend and contribute to client review meetings. Developing psychological formulations for and with our clients to inform care for the client whilst at STEPS, under the supervision of a consultant psychologist. To effectively communicate using a variety of styles that demonstrate the values and behaviours of STEPS. To communicate with people clearly and in a manner and at a level and pace appropriate to their abilities, preferences and beliefs.



To develop effective relationships with clients, carers, team members, suppliers and others as from time to time may be required To maintain accurate and detailed records of all interventions using the STEPS notes system and other specified systems as applicable. To record supervisions, appraisals and other people management related activities accurately using iRota and Staffology To be responsible for day-to-day workload allocation interacting with the STEPS team as appropriate. To be responsible for day-to-day workload allocation for Assistant Psychologist or other support team. To be responsible for providing input to training both in development and/or delivery as required from time to time by the STEPS OD strategy.



To be responsible for the delivery of both informal and formal training programmes as and when required in conjunction with other members of the STEPS team. Helping the wider team to provide a trauma-informed service. Working with the R&D therapist on research projects as appropriate to inform future decisions
