Assistant Quantity Surveyor -- Stellify Build Ltd

The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team at Stellify Build, working across luxury residential projects from our base in Didsbury and on sites throughout the North West. Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of high-quality, design-led housing schemes.

Your role will involve assisting with main contract valuations, variations, procurement and management of subcontractors, and helping to bring sub-contract accounts to final agreement. This is an important position within the business, offering exposure to all stages of the construction process. The ideal candidate will have experience with a main contractor or developer in a similar capacity.

While we value collaboration in the office and on site, we also recognise the need for flexibility and are open to discussing suitable working arrangements.

What We're Looking For

- HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
- Experience or strong grounding in the principles of commercial management within construction
- Understanding of building regulations and contractual obligations
- Knowledge of construction materials and methods
- Confidence with Microsoft Excel and measurement / costing software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Clear communication and negotiation ability
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to a small team environment

Key Responsibilities

- Attend pre-start and progress meetings on site
- Prepare and issue tender documentation for subcontract packages
- Assess and compare returned quotations
- Assist with procurement and placing of subcontract orders
- Support the monitoring of subcontractor performance and compliance
- Help maintain cost control and produce monthly commercial reporting
- Process valuations, applications and invoices in line with contract terms
- Assist in final account negotiation and agreement with subcontractors
- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in preparing main contract valuations and variations
- Maintain awareness of material costs and assist with material valuations
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and training
