We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Assistant Manager to help lead our team and elevate the Daiu experience.
The Role:As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will be a pivotal leader in delivering our unique dining concept. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant, championing outstanding guest service, leading and training the team on our interactive dining process, and supporting operational excellence. Your ability to educate, engage, and excite our guests is just as important as your managerial skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Education:o Be an expert on the Daiu concept and lead by example in delivering passionate, attentive, and informative service.o Proactively guide guests through the interactive dining process, explaining how to best use the tabletop grills for BBQ and the Hot Pot cookers for an optimal experience.o Expertly explain the menu, including the differences between broths, cuts of meat, and dipping sauces, to enhance guest enjoyment and sales.o Personally handle guest inquiries and resolve any issues with speed, grace, and professionalism, turning any situation into a positive experience.o Maintain a highly visible presence on the restaurant floor, constantly monitoring the dining experience and ensuring safety and cleanliness at the tables.o Team Leadership & Development:o Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling, and motivating a team of servers and hosts.o Conduct immersive pre-service briefings focused on menu knowledge, daily specials, and techniques for explaining the DIY cooking process to guests.o Empower the team to be confident educators on the floor, ensuring every guest feels comfortable and informed.o Lead the team during peak service by supporting table resets, managing wait times, and ensuring a seamless flow.o Operations & Safety Management:o Oversee the setup and safety checks of all tabletop equipment (grills, hot pots, extractor systems) at the start of each service.o Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring the restaurant is perfectly presented and secured.o Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient communication regarding ingredient preparation for the BBQ and Hot Pot stations.o Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and organisation in the front-of-house, with a sharp focus on table hygiene and floor safety.o Ensure full compliance with all health & safety regulations, particularly those relating to the use of live fire and heating elements at the table.o Commercial Acumen:o Drive sales through expert recommendation and upselling of premium meats, unique side dishes, and special broths.o Assist with stock control and ordering for front-of-house items, including beverages, soft drinks, and specialised tableware.o Help manage labour costs and contribute to strategies that maximise profitability without compromising the guest experience.
Person Specification:
Proven experience as a Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a high-volume, experiential, or interactive dining environment.o Exceptional knowledge of and a genuine passion for Asian cuisine, specifically Korean BBQ and/or Chinese Hot Pot culture.o A natural educator with outstanding communication skills and the ability to guide and excite guests.o Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to train, motivate, and inspire a team.o Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.o Meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding service flow, safety, and cleanliness.o Financial awareness and experience with cash handling, reporting, and stock management.o Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
