Tavernaki Portobello a family run restaurant on Portobello road seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support the smooth operation of our busy establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a comprehensive understanding of restaurant functions. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and assisting in managing staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience. Duties
Assist the Restaurant Manager in supervising daily restaurant operations, including service, food production, and cleanliness.
Support staff by providing guidance on food safety standards and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
Supervise team members, including serving staff and kitchen personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Manage reservations, organise seating arrangements, and ensure efficient table turnover.
Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally to uphold excellent service standards.
Assist in training new staff members in hospitality procedures, food safety protocols, and service techniques.
Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and coordinating with suppliers as needed.
Contribute to promotional activities and special events to enhance the restaurant's reputation.
Requirements
Proven experience in restaurant management or supervisory roles within hospitality settings.
Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and culinary arts.
Knowledge of food safety standards and food production processes.
Experience in supervising teams, with excellent leadership and organisational skills.
Familiarity with hospitality operations including serving, barista duties, and general customer service.
Previous experience working in restaurants or hotels is highly desirable.
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
