Job Purpose



The Assistant Risk Practitioner Cohort role is a junior entry point into our Risk Practice, with only 4 places available. As an Assistant Risk Practitioner, the majority of your time will be spent attending the optimise Academy and preparing for, and obtaining, relevant professional qualifications such as the APM Risk Management Level 2. The optimise Academy takes place over a 3 month period and consists of a number of modules giving you the foundation skills for a career in Risk Management. As you develop in competence, that will enable you to move into a delivery role as a Risk Practitioner, equivalent to an assistant level.

Key Responsibilities



Support the delivery of project risk management plans Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments Assist in the development of project risk registers and heatmaps Coordinate and participate in risk workshops and interviews Maintain accurate and timely records of risk data and actions Develop client-ready reports, dashboards, and analysis summaries Learn and use risk modelling software (where applicable) Ensure compliance with internal governance and client expectations

Required Qualifications & Experience



Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field Basic understanding of risk management principles and project lifecycle Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Confident user of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable



An understanding and demonstrated use of project management disciplines or business governance is desirable, although this is not essential. The ability to navigate complex theories is required so agile thinking is a must, alongside the ability to assess situations and communicate findings effectively to clients. Familiarity with quantitative risk analysis tools (e.g. @Risk, ARM, Safran, AMP) Experience or interest in working in high-assurance environments

Probationary Period



Duration: 6 months Regular reviews at 2-month intervals to assess performance, integration, training progress, and role fit Probation outcome to be confirmed at 6-month review with potential for earlier confirmation in exceptional cases

Onboarding Plan (First 6 Months)



Month 1-2:



Company introduction to Training Academy, you will be trained and armed with the tools and knowledge to perform all your duty's

Introduce to the optimise wider team, culture, and projects Training on optimise tools, frameworks, and client expectations Allocated mentors Shadowing of senior practitioner

Month 3-4:



Active participation in client projects with supervised responsibilities Attend workshops, support report preparation Begin working with internal knowledge resources

Month 5-6:



Independent delivery of assignments and/or internal tasks Prepare for formal probation review Personal development plan review and career pathway mapping
