Assistant Scientific Officer
Job Description
The post holders will be responsible for the reception and/or analysis of samples of animal origin for the presence of veterinary drug residues/contaminants or shellfish for the presence of marine biotoxins The post holder will receipt samples and /or be required to perform sample extraction, clean up then analysis using a range of highly sensitive rapid screening assays. These assays may be based on a number of different techniques including immunochemical assays, HPLC or mass spectrometry. In addition the role will involve a number of duties related to the maintenance of ISO17025 accreditation within the laboratory and other general duties.
The role will require a person with at least GCE \xe2\x80\x98A\xe2\x80\x99 level passes (A to E) or equivalent, in 2 separate subjects one of which must be biology or chemistry and GCSE/GCE \xe2\x80\x98O\xe2\x80\x99 level grades A, B or C in English and Math\xe2\x80\x99s.
In addition preference will be given to a person with laboratory experience gained either in a working environment or as part of higher education.
