We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and forward-thinking

Assistant SENDco

- Part time ( 3 days per week) to join our well-established nursery teams across both Croyland Nursery School and Day Nursery and Highfield Nursery School in Wellingborough.

The role will be varied and include assisting the SENCO in leading provision for children with SEND at Croyland and Highfield Nursery School. Ensuring inclusive practices and tailored support are effectively implemented. Assist with the identification of needs, development of support plans, and liaison with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for all SEND pupils.

Foundations for Children Nursery Schools Federation comprises of four maintained nursery schools: Camrose Early Years Centre for Children & Families and Parklands Nursery School in Northampton; and Croyland Nursery School & Day Nursery and Highfield Nursery School in Wellingborough. We have over 80 years' experience providing high quality early education for children aged 0-5.

Part Time, 3 days, 52 weeks per year, FTE 28,624-31,586. Actual salary 17,174-18,951.

The ideal candidate:



L3 Early Years qualification with 2+ years' EYFS teaching experience Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive practice Experienced in the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle Skilled in supporting children with complex SEND needs Confident in engaging with parents and professionals Up-to-date understanding of EYFS curriculum and assessment Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures Positive behaviour management and inclusive classroom strategies Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills Strong admin, organisation, and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Ability to model best practice and lead by example Effective multitasker with good judgement and initiative Flexible, committed, and passionate about SEND and early years Professional, trustworthy, and committed to equal opportunities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



Support the SENCO in the co-ordination and management of the send case load for Croyland and Highfield. Assist the SENCO in the coordination of the 'Assess, Plan, Do, Review' process with practitioners and parents. Work within the code of practice relating to Special Educational Needs, liaising with the SENCo and other appropriate professionals as necessary. Be responsible for the safeguarding and well-being of children by following the school's policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. To carry out such duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably requested by the Executive Headteacher; Work with the SENCO to risk assess and resource the SEND provisions and ensure the resources are used effectively, efficiently and safely. Maintain effective lines of communication with parents and all other agencies with regards to children on the provision map. Be directed by the SENCO for the completion of referral forms, typing up reports, minutes or meetings and making RSA applications. Organise external training and plan cover. Assist the SENCO in the transition process for children moving onto school. Managing the paper files - Coordinating the Scanning / Shredding and transfer. Be directed by the SENCO in the process of evidence gathering. Be a member of the leadership team and deputy designated safeguarding lead, supporting the nursery team when required on the shift patterns. Any further direction from the SENCO.

Health and Safety:



To contribute to and implement all nursery policies and procedures, e.g., register and signing out procedures, child protection, accident and incident reporting, health and safety, confidentiality, food safety, setting hygiene etc. To ensure that the welfare and safety of children is promoted within the setting and that any child protection/ safeguarding concerns are always appropriately and immediately acted upon in accordance with the school's policies and procedures. Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene in all nursery areas. Take shared responsibility for the care, maintenance and security of all equipment and toys within the nursery.

Continuing Professional Development:



To keep your knowledge of current working policies, practices and regulations up to date. In conjunction with your line manager, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research, which may lead to improvements in the day-to-day running of the nursery. Undertake any necessary and identified professional development taking full advantage of any relevant training and development available. Maintain a professional portfolio of evidence - evaluating and improving own practice.

Child Protection and Safeguarding:



To report any cause for concern regarding a child's health or welfare using the CPOM's system and report to DDSL. The post holder will have a shared responsibility for the safeguarding of all children. The post holder also has an implicit duty to promote the welfare of all children. Promote and implement safeguarding and child protection procedures. The post holder will undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, in consultation with line manager.
