The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in delivering the commercial, operational, and customer service goals of the Tredz flagship store. Acting as a key leader in the store, the Assistant Manager plays a central role in overseeing day-to-day operations, motivating the team, ensuring excellent customer experiences, and driving sales performance.
This position is also a critical support to the Store Manager in implementing business initiatives and stepping up in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Support & Leadership
Support the Store Manager in leading, motivating, and developing the in-store team.
Take ownership of day-to-day store operations, ensuring smooth workflow across departments.
Provide leadership presence on the shop floor--coaching staff, leading by example, and resolving issues in real-time.
Support in scheduling, absence management, and facilitating team briefings and communications.
2. Customer Service Excellence
Ensure a consistent and high-quality customer experience across the store.
Handle customer queries, feedback, and escalated complaints promptly and professionally.
Champion a service-first culture, coaching the team to go above and beyond for customers.
Maintain high visual merchandising and operational standards.
3. Sales & Commercial Delivery
Drive team performance against store sales targets and KPIs.
Support local marketing activities, in-store promotions, and community engagement events.
Actively promote and develop workshop services and accessory sales.
Maintain product knowledge and ensure the team is informed about new ranges and promotions.
4. Operational & Stock Management
Assist in stock control activities including ordering, receiving, and stock checks.
Monitor stock accuracy, shrinkage, and contribute to regular stock audits.
Ensure correct product placement and store layout to optimise footfall and sales.
Support in supplier communications and internal logistics as required.
5. Compliance & Store Standards
Ensure daily compliance with company policies including health and safety, cash handling, GDPR, and operational standards.
Oversee cleanliness, organisation, and general upkeep of the store and workshop areas.
Ensure equipment and facilities are used safely and maintained to standard.
Act as designated keyholder and assume store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.
What we are looking for:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Retail supervisory or management experience, ideally within a cycling or technical retail environment.
Strong leadership presence with ability to support, coach, and motivate a team.
High-level customer service and communication skills.
Good understanding of store operations including stock, merchandising, and sales reporting.
Comfortable working with KPIs and commercial objectives.
Desirable
Experience working with bike sales or workshop services.
Passion for cycling and an interest in cycling culture or sports retail.
