Part-time (20 hours per week)

Salary:

27, 000 - 30, 000 per annum (pro-rata based on 20 hours/week)

West Suffolk Swimming Club (WSSC) is looking for a highly motivated, experienced and committed coach, looking to take the next step in their career.

WSSC is a well-established and friendly Swim Mark-accredited club based out of Bury St Edmunds, Culford and Haverhill in Suffolk. We operate a pathway with swimmers from stage 6 out of swim scheme, to county, regional and national levels. Members have also gone on to represent Great Britain at International level. We have around 250 members across our squads. This role offers an opportunity for the right candidate to play a major role in shaping its future.

Skills Required:



The ability to plan and execute training sessions suitable for the squad. Technical knowledge as required for the level Effective communication skills The ability to motivate the swimmers to achieve their best The ability to work with volunteers and other members of coaching staff Excellent time management skills Knowledge of the Optimum Athlete Development Framework (OADF)

Key Responsibilities:



Athlete Development

: Working closely with the Head Coach to identify and coach the potential in our members, in line with the OADF.

Leadership

: Lead and deliver training sessions, while providing constructive feedback to swimmers and supporting their overall development.

Mentoring

: Helping and supporting our coaches and building a strong cohesive coaching team.

Competition Support

: Attend club competitions in line with the club's competition calendar, helping members to perform at their best.

Administration

: Keep up-to-date attendance registers, communicate with parents/guardians, and help with the day-to-day administrative tasks.

Representation

: A role model for the club, fostering positive relationships with local clubs, as well as at a county, regional and national level.

Coach Cover / Support

: Cover sessions across the club when needed, ensuring a seamless delivery of training.
The role is part-time and will include morning and evening training sessions across the week. It will also involve attending open meets and county/regional/national weekends.

The successful candidate will at minimum hold a Level 2 Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate. You will either already be a Lead Coach or Assistant Head Coach at another club or be able to demonstrate that you have sufficient experience to step up into the role.

We offer a competitive rate of pay which is dependent on experience and are looking to move quickly with this appointment. We will be scheduling initial interviews towards the end of July, with the successful candidate ideally able to join us from 1st September 2025.

Any offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references, demonstrable right to work in the UK and a DBS check. The successful candidate will also have a full UK driver's license.
