Are you an experienced Transport/Logistics Manager?
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic driven capable Assistant Transport Manager to join our busy depot in Luton for one of our acquired businesses Cawleys.
The depot runs multiple trucks of different types with customers of all sizes. We are looking for a dynamic operator who thrives with challenge, who can manage supervisors and drivers with change and adapt to customer requests and requirements.

As an Assistant Transport Manager, you'll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that's helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.
What will I be doing?
To support the Service Delivery Manager in the management of operational staff and process to achieve or exceed agreed service levels.
Working within the limits of the budget and allocated headcount.
To ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and complaint manner
Helping staff to reach their full potential either through formal training or coaching. You will be required to carry out investigations that may lead to disciplinary action, and you may be required to chair disciplinary hearings.
You will also have involvement in the recruitment, induction and training of new staff.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the depot KPIs are met and exceeded, ensuring vehicles and personnel are deployed to the most efficient means.
Data accuracy is critical in ensuring that KPI and SLA targets are met.
You will need to be able to strategically examine the depots performance matrices and support the team with implementing plans to bring about improvements in efficiency and deliver growth.
It is imperative that all depot activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Compliance. You will be responsible for ensuring this is the case and investigating incidents that fall below the level expected.
You will help to ensure that all staff are trained and authorised to carry out their job and that they do so in a safe and compliant manner.
You will also support in sourcing cost effective disposal outlets and help the depot reduce costs where possible.
Customers are at the heart of our business, you will be responsible for supporting the Service Delivery team meet customer demands and respond to customer enquiries in a timely manner.
You will visit customers to ensure that we are offering the most effective service for them and resolving any operational issues that may arise.
What are the Requirements?
Excellent people management skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with a range of stakeholders right up to director level
An operational skill set developed in a fast paced logistics and or waste background. You should be able to make decisions quickly and spot and challenge errors or outliers in large data sets.
You should be able to lead people in the direction the business requires. Encouraging them to develop personally and professionally.
Full knowledge of the Logistics and Waste Industry is desirable to enable you to fully comprehend the activities of your teams.
Experience in running multiple vehicles with high volume would be advantageous
You should have a knowledge of fleet management systems and routing programmes as well as excellent Microsoft suite knowledge.
