Job Description

Financial Crime and Compliance (FC&C) department is responsible for ensuring that all financial crime and compliance risks within the Bank are identified, managed or mitigated. It establishes and maintains the Bank's regulatory communications, compliance risk management, regulatory reporting and compliance advisory. As an Assistant Vice President - Compliance Assurance, you will be responsible for independent oversight of the Bank's adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry best practice. You will be leading and participating in reviews assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of key controls, working closely with senior stakeholders to promote a robust compliance culture across the Bank. This is a full time permanent position.

Key responsibilities



Plan, execute, and report on compliance assurance reviews in line with the annual Compliance Assurance Plan and the Compliance Assurance Methodology Assess controls mitigating financial crime risks (e.g. AML, sanctions, bribery and corruption) and regulatory compliance risks Deliver high-quality written reports with clear and impactful recommendations Engage constructively with stakeholders to address findings and track remediation progress Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Compliance Assurance methodology Contribute to the development of the Compliance Assurance annual plan Mentor junior staff in their development, particularly during reviews and issue management processes

Requirements



Degree educated preferably in Law, Banking or Finance Relevant professional qualifications such as ICA Diploma, ACAMS, or internal audit-related are desirable Proven experience delivering assurance/monitoring reviews or internal audit in Financial Services In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory (FCA, PRA, and JMLSG) requirements in relation to regulatory compliance and financial crime compliance risks Knowledge and experience using data analytics or automated testing tools to enhance assurance work is desirable Solid report writing and presentation skills, able to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely for Senior Management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to constructively partner, collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels Ability to collaborate effectively across first and second line functions, fostering a culture of risk ownership while preserving assurance objectivity and independence Fluency in Mandarin is preferred Proven analytical and problem-solving capability, including identifying root causes and recommending pragmatic, proportionate solutions Detail oriented with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple reviews simultaneously, and meet deadlines
