The Team

Our Construction & Engineering team sits within the wider Real Estate & Development team. We are predominantly based in Southampton, but we work closely with our colleagues across the firm, including Bournemouth and London.

We provide contentious and non-contentious legal advice to clients across the sector, including national developers, funders, landlords, management companies, contractors, consultants and high net worth individuals on a variety of construction projects. We have experience in commercial and residential developments, public sector works, mixed-use, office, industrial, hotel, retail and leisure developments, care and retirement living projects, offshore wind farm constructions, and marina and port-related developments.

We advise our clients through all stages of the development, from planning and procurement to practical completion and dispute avoidance, including drafting and negotiating building contracts, consultants' appointments, collateral warranties, third-party rights and bonds, and offering ongoing project advice.

Our team benefits from a knowledge lawyer and paralegal support and access to valuable on-line resources.

Our Construction and the wider Real Estate Development team are recognised in the Legal 500, with many partners within Lester Aldridge being ranked in the legal directories.

The Role



We are looking for a 4+ years PQE construction solicitor to join our friendly team.

While ideally this role would suit a candidate with a mixture of both contentious and non-contentious construction experience, we would also like to hear from candidates who may have experience working on primarily contentious or non-contentious construction matters.

You will:

be a strong team player, with excellent interpersonal skills have strong attention to detail and organizational skills have confidence in your expertise, with the ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and progress work swiftly have experience of effective matter management and business development activities be able to build strong client relationships and expand your network within the industry
