Job Description


Purpose of Role Reporting to the Director Infrastructure and Operations, the Associate Director, Cloud Operations will join the Infrastructure and Operations Leadership Team to oversee the implementation and operation of Cloud services for EBRD. This role is responsible for managing, co-ordinating and resourcing the implementation of all Cloud services.
This is a senior ‘doing’ role and due to the broad scope and multiple interdependencies of this initiative, the successful candidate will need to:

  • Responsible for working closely with the Principal, DevOps and Principal, Cloud Security to create a Cloud DevSecOps Practice which is capable of delivering and operating all Cloud services
  • Work closely with the Architecture team to define a Cloud Strategy and Roadmap aligned with the strategic plan
  • Define EBRD Cloud standards and Govern against these

Accountabilities and Responsibilities; Accountable
  • For overseeing the Delivery and Run of all Cloud Services, and DevSecOps Pipeline.
  • Management and leadership of the Cloud functions, including partner resources, ensuring delivery and run teams are equipped with the right tools and skills in order to deliver as agreed with the relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to the Director, Technology Transformation and Director, Applications and Integration.
  • Provide direction to the business on Cloud best practice, processes and procedures as well as automation enabling continual service improvement and self service delivery capabilities.
  • Drive and support key technology decisions in relation to Cloud platforms in support of the existing and new product roadmaps.
  • Working closely with the Architecture team to define the Cloud Strategy and Roadmap
  • Working closely with other stakeholders including the Technical Operations and Applications and Integration teams to establish a Cloud DevSecOps practice
  • Working with Portfolio Budget and Performance Team to establish a chargeback model for Cloud Applications hosted within Microsoft Azure
    Implementation of Policy and practice for Proactive and Detective monitoring to ensure Alerting and Reporting is in place to drive economical use of resource at all times
    Responsible
  • Work with Commercial and Vendor Management Team to identify and establish Strategic Cloud and DevSecOps Partners and manage their performance against SLAs
  • Work closely with the Director, Technology Platform Transformation to ensure Cloud and DevSecOps resources are available to the delivery teams as required.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director, Technical Operations to ensure the Infrastructure estate is operational and that there are no overlaps between delivery streams
  • Define and publish all Cloud and DevSecOps standards and govern delivery against these standards.
  • Work closely with the Principal, DevOps and Principal Cloud Security, AD, Technical Ops to establish a Cloud DevSecOps practice, and manage the transition from the current model to this new model
  • Migrate existing Cloud Services to the new support and delivery model
  • Work closely with projects on technical designs and specifications, aligning with the overall Bank Cloud Operations roadmaps and architectures and ensuring operability of solutions
  • Govern documentation of designs and implementation Oversee investigations to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems using a variety of techniques
  • Oversee the Implementation of pipeline and dependent tooling in conjunction with all stakeholder teams including EBRD IT Operations
  • Oversee work to write scripted procedures to support operational delivery automation and continuous improvement
  • Evangelise Agile principles to help EBRD to establish and continuously improve working practices
Demonstrate a diligent and conscientious approach to completing work on time and to an agreed, acceptable level of quality
Knowledge Skills/Responsibilities Experience
  • Able to demonstrate at significant Cloud Operations experience in similar sized organisations
  • Extensive experience of Azure Cloud, M365 and all supporting technologies including IAM and PAM.
  • Proven experience in establishing and leading a Cloud Operations Function
  • Extensive experience of DevSecOps.
  • Good understanding of with all aspects of the Agile SDLC and the implications on services within an ITIL framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in Cloud Strategy and Roadmap definition
  • 10 years plus experience working on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) with solid troubleshooting skills
  • Azure Portal Navigation, Configuration, Interrogation and Reporting. Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS):- SQL DB, CosmosDB and ServiceBus.
  • Production experience of containers and container orchestration. Kubernetes usage and debugging.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins Management, Linux System Administration, TCP/IP connectivity, monitoring alerts and managing event resolution from Email, Azure Workspace and Nagios.
  • Experience in working with enterprise scale applications, API Gateways, high availability architectures, load balancing & disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of application and cloud security fundamentals, Powershell, Citrix, and virtualisation technologies, e.g. VMWare
