Associate Director: Global Development Systems Regional Lead

Job Description


The Associate Director Global Development Solutions (GDS) will be responsible for leading Global Development technology projects by partnering with key business customers to intake, design implement and improve including production support. This role will work closely with other Global Business Solution Partners (BSP), Implementation Leads and System Owners to deliver region-specific requirements as part of global initiatives as well as deliver projects specific to individual regions.

  • Collaborate with Global BSP\xe2\x80\x99s, Implementation Leads and System Owners to ensure that solutions are appropriately planned, performed, and transitioned efficiently to operations.
  • Intake, assess, prioritize and validate European specific needs/requirements for GD systems. including partnership with Global BSPs to ensure connectivity with global initiatives.
  • Responsible for software and services contracting, vendor relationship(s), and driving development processes, best practices and standards.
  • Provide SME input for system impact assessment for European personnel.
  • Own all technical changes related to system improvements coming out of the European region by working with US GDS Colleagues accountable for the impacted systems.
  • Partner with the Functional System Owners, Business Process Owners, IL\xe2\x80\x99s and Functional Business Solutions Partner(s) to implement new technologies to support the EU region.
  • Lead steering committee meetings, operational working groups, system change requests, issue management, and release management for upgrades to existing systems.
  • Provide direction and subject matter expertise on projects to efficiently handle business user expectations, timelines, budget and overall efforts for value realization.
  • Lead all aspects of outsourced Managed Service technical support vendors associated with the EU technology portfolio.
  • Work cross-functionally with GDS functions, Corporate IT, and other relevant functions in the management of enterprise systems, including development and alignment to standards and governance.
  • Functions as point of contact for EU technology in support of GDS Team members as well as the functional business units within GD.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
Job Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required, proficiency in other languages is helpful
  • Experience in at least one of the following Global Development domains (Medical Affairs, Development Operations & Portfolio Management, Biostatistics and Data Management, Patient Safety, Regulatory and Quality).
  • BS/BA Degree with 8+ years or MS/MA/MBA degree and 6+ years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical Global Development business capabilities, processes, systems, and key trends in the industry.
  • Knowledge of the Information Technology Service Management Framework and ITIL v3x.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Strong record of accomplishment of technology project management, customer management, budget management and collaboration skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to indirectly influence key partners and team members with clear, concise, and well-formed message tailored to the audience.
  • Ability to act tactically and think strategically.
  • Ability to influence operational processes in favor of a positive and value add customer experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address day to day challenges associated with business solutions.
