Associate Director - Occupier ESG Sector Lead

Role Purpose

The role will report directly to the Occupier ESG Client Lead.. CBRE has contracted Occupier accounts with multiple global businesses including HSBC, GSK, Maersk and Lloyd\'s Bank, to name a few. You will be joining a progressive and diverse team looking to continually challenge the status quo by delivering bespoke, creative ESG real estate solutions.

The ESG Consultancy forms a key part of the Advisory business , a group comprising over 95 technical experts working across the property life cycle, led by Kaela Fenn-Smith, Managing Director for ESG & Sustainability for the UK&I. This multi-disciplinary team is committed to leading the way to net zero, supporting sustainable investments within real estate and helping clients create value to local communities and improve building occupants\' wellbeing. The Sector Lead role within the Occupier ESG service line will create a first point of contact and subject matter expert for one or more of our four Occupier sectors: Consumer and Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Financial and Professional Services, and Technology, Media and Telecommunications. The role will be an ESG counterpart to senior leaders across the Occupier Business.

Key Responsibilities

- In this newly created role within the ESG team, you will be part of our Occupier ESG Service Line, facing off to CBRE\'s large occupier business. The role will require you to:

- Assist in quality assurance, the provision of sustainability and ESG services to Occupier Clients and provide expert sustainability advice to internal and external stakeholders;

- Develop and maintain key client relationships and maximise opportunities for repeat business;

- Lead the development and maintenance of the Occupier ESG team\'s relationships with senior leadership and key stakeholders within CBRE, including the advisory occupier sector and vertical leads, sectoral business development leads for the facilities management business, and internal occupier account leads.

- Manage projects, contracts, budgets and costs and support profitable growth for the Occupier ESG service line;

- Utilise existing team of consultants in the ESG team to develop innovative services, products and solutions with a sector specific lens.

- Support the future recruitment, line management, training and development of junior team members;

- Ensure the latest learning and development initiatives are implemented as required within the team, and wider ESG consultancy

- Develop and deliver Continued Professional Development, workshops, seminars to CBRE internal and Client external teams on sustainability related legislation, emerging sectoral trends and the performance of sustainability programmes;

- Help to support webcasts, trainings, and other educational content for CBRE employees and Clients;

- Support the delivery of wider Sustainability and Environmental Consultancy initiatives across Client portfolios, including working with subject matter leads in delivering programs relating to specific sustainability themes such as decarbonisation and net-zero, circularity and other environmental impacts, health and wellness, social valueetc.;

- Provide ad-hoc SME support for CBRE\'s internal ESG Strategy team, including the sharing of best practices with the internal team and supporting on decarbonisation initiatives to meet CBRE\'s own net-zero goals and targets;

- Innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments; and

- Serve as a champion of CBRE\'s own sustainability strategy.

Person Specification/Requirements

- Significant sustainability experience, a period of which has been spent in-business or as a consultant focused onthe occupier market

- Experience relevant to the applicable sector

- Bachelor\'s degree required, MBA or other master\'s degree preferable

- Understanding of key sustainability issues affecting businesses

- Knowledge of key sustainability reporting initiatives (GHG Protocol, TCFD, TPT, CSRD, GRI, CDP, SASB etc.). Understanding of green building certifications/assessment methodologies desirable (e.g. LEED, BREEAM, WELL, NABERS UK, CRREM)

- Proven record of delivering against targets

- Ability to think strategically and translate research and insights into viable recommendations for action

- Experience of operating in a complex, commercial environment

- Ability to understand and analyse information to be able to recommend informed solutions to problems

- Able to influence third parties to achieve desired sustainability outcomes

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong attention to detail

- Excellent people management skills

- Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships across department and geographies

- Owns responsibility for technical and/or service delivery

- Owns and manages specific client relationships, manages people, and handles contractual issues, handles all but the most sensitive issues with the client or third parties
