Job Description

The Luminos Fund, an international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world's most marginalized children, is seeking an Associate Director of Impact to manage its dynamic Impact team and oversee the processes and tools that underpin our impact work. The Impact team is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on program data to drive evidence-informed decision-making across the organization and improve learning outcomes for marginalized children.


This position calls for an experienced manager with expertise in data systems, alongside strong people and project management skills. We encourage applications from individuals with professional backgrounds in data systems engineering, data science, monitoring and evaluation, education research, or related technical fields.


This is a full-time role that may be based in one of our offices in Accra, Addis Ababa, Boston, London, or Monrovia, or remotely in a time zone from GMT-5 to GMT+3. Reporting to the Senior Director of Impact, the role holder will collaborate with country-based program teams and the Teaching & Learning team to ensure effective impact processes and high-quality data. The position will require up to 25% travel to challenging contexts in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Duties and Responsibilities





Technical Leadership in Data Systems




Design and manage a user-friendly data system to track classroom quality and learning outcomes across the Luminos program. Lead the full design process--from reviewing existing data flows and gathering user needs to identifying technology solutions that work well in low-resource settings. Document system design clearly, including how data are extracted, cleaned, and loaded, to guide smooth implementation. Maintain and improve the system over time, introducing automation and stepping in for hands-on troubleshooting when needed. Establish strong data quality checks to keep all program data accurate, relevant, and timely.

Project and Process Management




Develop and manage the Impact team's internal processes for planning, task tracking, and accountability, with an emphasis on simplicity and clarity. Oversee implementation of data tools and systems that enable consistent, reliable, and scalable measurement of impact. Collaborate closely with country teams and the Teaching & Learning team to understand their data needs and integrate insights into program design and delivery.

Technical Leadership in Education Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation




Support the collection and analysis of learning data, including EGRA/EGMA and related assessment tools. Conduct and interpret statistical analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression) to generate actionable insights. Maintain data quality through strong monitoring systems, clear standards, and staff training. Translate findings into practical recommendations for program improvement and donor reporting.

Required Skills and Experience




Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. At least one degree must have a substantial quantitative or technical component At least five years' relevant work experience in data systems management, technical program management, or a related technical field. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Proven ability to manage complex technical projects from planning through implementation. Experience leading technical staff, fostering collaboration, and mentoring others. Proficiency in SQL, Python, Azure (or similar cloud platforms), and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Desired Skills and Experience




Experience in user-centered system design, data architecture, and applying design thinking to complex problems. Strong statistical analysis skills, using R, Stata, Python, or similar software. Experience working in cross-cultural or international development contexts. Familiarity with education data, particularly EGRA/EGMA or similar large-scale learning assessments.
