About the role:
As an Associate Director at Northern Accountants, you are responsible for driving the positive performance of the portfolios you and your team are responsible for. This includes client relationship management, growth of the portfolios within your division and retention of clients.
You are responsible for guiding, empowering and developing your team to deliver the very best services and work to our clients. You will create clarity for what is required, hold your team to account and ensure the right support and training is in place to support their personal success.
In addition, you are responsible for helping NA grow overall and will play a key part in helping us deliver our business development and marketing plans, as well as other key projects where required.
Key Responsibilities
Client Growth -
working closely with clients and your team to ensure we are maximising opportunities for client growth
.
Taking time to understand their aspirations and goals, offering advice and solutions to enable their growth.
Client Service and Retention -
leading your team with a service first mindset and personally delivering service review conversations with your team's client portfolio ensuring we maximise our client retention. You will look for opportunities to improve client service and are also the custodiam of the quality of production within your team.
Portfolio Delivery -
delivery of your own small portfolio of clients with greater needs in line with NA standards. This will include our wide range of services including our FD service and effective tax planning as well as ensuring all practice production, deadlines and quality / compliance standards are met.
People Leadership -
leading your team, nurturing growth and helping them be the best they can be. Actively managing and monitoring the financial performance of your team and their portfolio to ensure achievement of targets that support the wider business goals.
Business Development -
actively looking for ways to attract new business in line with business goals including promoting your own personal brand. Speaking to new prospects to help them understand how we can support their business journey. Inputting into strategic growth plans, sharing ideas and delivering action to enable our growth.
Strategic insight
- you will feed into our Director team who are responsible for ensuring that that NA strategic goals are achieved. You will report on your team and portfolio's financial performance, client service and growth, new business and resource / capacity. You will focus on continuous improvement and share your thoughts on how we can continue to shape our firm for the future.
ABOUT YOU
Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Proven senior leadership and management experience within an accountancy practice
Proven experience of helping clients' businesses to grow and growing a portfolio
Demonstrates a service mindset with focus on developing and nurturing positive client relationships
Proven experience in business development and strong influencing skills
ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualification
Experience of working in Accounting Practice at a similar level
High levels of commercial acumen and able to inspire the team to think the same
Knowledge of Xero and/or the ability to adapt to use latest software technologies
Builds knowledge about the needs of clients and the future of our industry so we can stay ahead of the curve
PREFERRED SKILLS
Knowledge of Taxcalc or similar Accounting software
Experience at a senior management level
