This role will ensure a cohesive and aligned development and execution of the Oncology Translational Research vision and mission through the execution of core strategic projects, encompassing innovative technologies and cutting-edge science to support the delivery of transformational medicines leading to better outcomes for patients. The role of Associate Director - Scientific Project Management within the Oncology Translational Research organization will provide operational and program/project management support for precision medicine project plans, translational research studies, and companion diagnostic development, including workstream coordination, scientific meeting management, finance operations and contracting, and harmonization GSK functional business partners (Business Development, Finance, Oncology TA functions) and vendors. The Translational Research Project Manager is responsible for ensuring internal stakeholder alignment, creating integrated project/program timelines, tracking and verifying completion of project deliverables and milestones, identifying and mitigating project risks, and timely communication to relevant stakeholders within the Oncology Translational Research.   • Work closely with internal cross-functional project teams and external partners to ensure that project objectives are delivered according to agreed scope, cost, quality and timeline milestones
  • Analyze, plan, and track project activities; identify and resolve operational problems and minimize delays
  • Communicate timelines, milestones and goals on a routine basis to the Oncology Translational Research team, the project team, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate risks to timeline, budget, scope, etc. to stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Track and update project budgets, milestones and payments.
  • Manage vendor contracts and approval of invoices
  • Organize internal scientific/strategy meetings as well as meetings with external partners (e.g. Joint Project Team meetings, F2F meetings, etc.), provide expert records of discussions, and ensure timely resolution of actions
Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in biological sciences or related discipline; advanced scientific degree a plus
  • Extensive project or program management experience in the diagnostic, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry
  • Experience managing clinical biomarker or In Vitro Diagnostic development programs
  • Understanding of drug discovery and development, clinical trial design, and overall principles of clinical development
  • Knowledge and experience in both companion diagnostic and pharmaceutical development, analytical and clinical validations, and regulatory submissions a plus
  • Good understanding and application of Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards; PMP certification a plus
  • Established expertise and hands-on experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and remote meeting tools such as MS Teams, WebEx, etc.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to ascertain salient points from large amount of information

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and cross-functional team engagement
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work well with ambiguity and in intense situations.
  • Ability to escalate potential concerns or risks regarding partnerships to leadership
