You will be a chartered Town Planner with substantive planning experience gained in the public and / or private sector (consultancy or client-side).
Person specification
We are looking for someone who can:
understand the needs and motivations of clients, which encompass housebuilders, land promoters, local developers and businesses.
develop long lasting relationships with clients and allied professionals.
show a commitment to growing new business (this isn't expected on day one and you would be supported by the Directors and fellow Associate Directors to build this up over time).
demonstrate technical excellence and the ability to apply accrued knowledge and expertise to new projects, both setting and executing a strategy.
draw upon their breadth of experience of different forms of development and / or geographic areas.
act with confidence and integrity, giving honest clear advice and managing the inherent risks associated with the planning process.
prepare written advice and reports to a high standard.
undertake due diligence and research, prepare and submit applications and appeals, liaise and negotiate with officers during the course of determination.
participate in community engagement events
take responsibility and work on their own initiative, albeit within a supportive team structure and environment.
project manage and use their time effectively.
bring positivity, inspire and offer mutual support to the planners, assistant planners and graduate planners within our team.
work from our head office, albeit we are open to discussion on flexible working arrangements.
You must also possess:
at least seven years post qualification experience (albeit we will exercise our discretion for the right candidate).
enthusiasm and a desire to find solutions.
excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
good IT literacy (MS Office applications and confident in using web-based applications).
a willingness to learn as our profession evolves (be it through legislative change, policy or good practice). We will support you with CPD opportunities.
a driving licence and have access to a car.
EIA experience and / or urban design qualifications are desirable, but not essential.
