, you will support our team in providing working with clients in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. In this entry-level role, you will assist with carrying out analysis of client sites and energy usage. You will gain exposure to a range of industries in the UK while developing your expertise in energy taxation.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Reporting
: Assist in preparing returns and compliance documentation related to energy-related incentives and tax reliefs, such as the Climate Change Levy (CCL) and various energy tax schemes.
Energy Tax Incentives
: Support the team in advising clients on energy tax incentives, including tax credits, carbon pricing, and tax reliefs available for energy and sustainability initiatives.
Research & Analysis
: Conduct research on UK tax regulations affecting the energy sector, including new policies, legislative changes, and emerging tax incentives. Help identify opportunities for clients to optimise tax positions within the energy sector.
Client Support
: Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence for clients, explaining energy tax issues in a clear and accessible way. You will work directly with clients, gaining insight into their energy tax needs and providing assistance where needed.
Collaboration
: Work closely with senior professionals, engineers, and advisors to help deliver energy tax solutions to clients.
Learning & Development
: Participate in training and development initiatives, staying up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in energy taxation.
Qualifications:
Education
: A bachelor's degree in science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Candidates with relevant tax or energy-related qualifications are encouraged to apply, or willingness to pursue professional qualifications.
Experience
: Some experience (internships, placements, or a year or more) in consultancy, or within the energy sector is desirable but not essential. This role is open to graduates or candidates with a keen interest in energy taxation.
Analytical Skills
: Strong ability to analyse data, research schemes, and assist in developing practical solutions to ongoing challenges.
Communication Skills
: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare clear and concise presentations and communicate technical information in a user-friendly manner.
IT Skills
: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills:
Interest in energy, sustainability, or similar areas is advantageous.
Some knowledge of UK government tax relief schemes like the Climate Change Levy, or other energy grants and incentives.
Previous exposure to compliance or advisory work in an internship or placement role.
