UMG UK x Black Music Coalition Internship
A first-of-its-kind two-year internship designed to support, develop and elevate future Black music executives.Job Title: Associate Intern (AmplifyU)
Duration: 24 months (three 4-month department rotations + 12-month specialisation)

Salary: 26,700 per annum + full UMG UK employee benefits

About the Black Music Coalition
The Black Music Coalition (BMC) is dedicated to eradicating racial inequality and establishing equity for Black executives, artists and communities within the UK music industry. The BMC exists to support, advocate for and elevate Black talent at every level in music.
About the Internship
UMG UK and the Black Music Coalition have partnered to launch a two-year internship for aspiring Black music executives. You will rotate across three areas of the business in year one, gaining broad experience and insight. In year two, you'll specialise in one department that aligns with your strengths and future goals.
Your First Year: Rotational Experience
During your first 12 months, you will rotate across three departments, gaining exposure to how different areas of the music business operate. Example placement areas include (but are not limited to):
Creative, Artist & Label TeamsA&R Admin - supporting the signing, development and recording journey of artists
Artist Relations & Events - assisting with artist hospitality, shows, events and industry moments
Decca, Island, EMI, Polydor, 0207 Def Jam, Capitol - rotating with some of the UK's most influential record labels
Universal Music Recordings - working across catalogue and iconic artist campaigns
Audience, Data & Digital Innovation (AMS - Audience & Media Services)Audience (AMS) - helping understand and build artist fanbases
Data, Analytics & Insights (AMS) - learning how insights shape decisions
FUSED (AMS) - supporting creative and strategic digital campaigns
Media (AMS) - contributing to media planning and campaign optimisation
Global Brand & CommercialGlobe Sync - supporting music placement in film, TV, games and advertising
Globe Brands - exploring partnerships between artists and brands
D2C / eCommerce & CRM - working on fan commerce, retail and audience engagement
Commercial - supporting retail and streaming partner relationships
Business Operations & Corporate SupportUMG UK Finance / Corporate Finance / Tax - understanding business performance and financial planning
Global Revenue & Royalties / Royalties - learning how royalties flow and are paid to artists and writers
Legal & Business Affairs / Company Secretary - gaining insight into contracts and rights management
Global Technology - supporting the tech behind our music ecosystem
Global Supply Chain / Supply Chain Milton Keynes - learning how music is manufactured and distributed
Communications - supporting internal and external storytelling
You will be guided throughout your rotation selection to ensure the experience aligns with your interests, strengths and development goals.
Your Second Year: Specialisation
After completing your rotations, you will choose one area to specialise in for 12 months, developing deeper experience and working on meaningful projects that contribute to artist careers and business impact.

Eligibility Criteria
This internship is open to applicants aged 18 or over who are eligible to work in the UK.

No academic qualifications or prior music industry experience are required.
This internship is based in London. Monday through Thursday is spent working in the office and Fridays from home.

All eligible candidates will then be invited to complete a one-way video interview via our platform, HireVue.
Upon completion of the HireVue interview, and in partnership with the Black Music Coalition, we will review all video applications and invite our finalists to UMG UK, offices to meet the teams and take part in an in-person interview.
The successful candidate will start on Monday 12th January 2026
