This new full-time post is available from 22 September 2025 until 21 September 2027 on a fixed term basis.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements. We would consider part-time applicants, although we would require a minimum of 3 days per week (FTE 0.6). The vacancy is within the MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical), who deliver a blended learning approach of face-to-face and online/remote teaching.
We are looking to recruit an Associate Lecturer to work within the Clinical Education Development and Research (CEDAR) team with academics who support the delivery of the MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical) programme, working within the wider Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to teach within CEDAR as it grows and develops the mental health workforce. We offer a wide-ranging portfolio of professional training programmes, from undergraduate up to master's level, through to post-qualification and advanced practice courses. There will be scope & an expectation to work across these programmes depending on skills, experience and interests.
The role will include on-campus teaching (Streatham Campus, Exeter) up to 3 days a week (Sept-Mar). The MSci programme is based in Exeter and all our teaching will be delivered either in-person here, or remotely/online. However, there may be a requirement to travel to Bristol and London to support teaching across other programmes within the PWP portfolio. We are unable to offer the post remotely but would be able to accommodate hybrid working provided regular travel to Exeter is possible.
Although we are recruiting the post on a fixed term basis, it is highly likely that, subject to funding, the post can be extended. As such, we are hoping to recruit staff that are passionate about training skilled PWPs and are committed to this role rather than wanting a short-term contract or a temporary role.
About The Role
Do you have sound knowledge of PWP working and Step 2 evidence-based practice? Are you an excellent communicator with a person-centred approach? Would you like to help new trainee PWPs develop their clinical understanding and support them along their journey to becoming qualified practitioners?
We are looking for dedicated, organised, caring individuals who hold a PWP qualification to become part of the CEDAR clinical education team. If you have an interest in sharing and developing great Step 2 practice and in supporting and advising trainee PWPs through their training, then we would welcome your application.
The job role entails delivery of the PWP teaching and training, both remotely and face-to-face at Exeter (and potentially other locations, see above). You will contribute to the continued development of training materials, help deliver training days and lectures, give feedback on role plays and contribute to marking clinical and academic assessments. You will act as a personal tutor and a point of contact for trainees and their workplace supervisors.
This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to and shape the delivery of the PWP training so that it becomes as inclusive and effective as possible. You'll be joining a team of hardworking, committed, and supportive practitioners and educators whose aim is to provide the most effective training experience possible in conjunction with our NHS Talking Therapies partners.
