This part-time (up to 0.6 FTE) post is available from 1 November 2025 on a fixed term basis until 31 October 2026.

The role



The post of Associate Lecturer in Sports Management reflects our commitment to (1) enhancing and expanding our existing teaching expertise in sport and exercise science; (2) revitalizing our education programmes with cutting-edge skills; and (3) aligning with the department's strategic emphasis on developing (post) graduate skills.

The post will focus on teaching excellence and educational innovation within the field of sports management across a range of topics, such as sports operations, policy, governance, leadership, marketing, technology, e-sports, sustainability, globalisation, events and other contemporary sporting trends. The post contributes to delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supporting students, and contributing to curriculum development. The successful candidate will join a team that plays a crucial role in growing the discipline of sport and business management and shaping the next generation of leaders and managers in the industry by providing a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

About you



For an Associate Lecturer post you will:

Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualifications/experience in an area of sports management teach and support learning; Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students; Be expected to work towards Associate Fellow of the HEA status within two years of appointment (if not already achieved) and to attend formal CPD relating to this.


For a Lecturer post you will:

Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent in an area of sports management to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning; Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students; Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities; Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching; Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.

Public Health and Sport Sciences



The University of Exeter's Public Health and Sport Sciences department is one of three departments in the Medical School and situated within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs that combine aspects of public health, physical activity, and sport sciences and through the supporting discipline of sports management.
