. We help our clients protect and develop those vital assets, unlocking
possibilities
for future success.
From iconic brands and leading multinationals to pioneering start-ups, we are proud to work with a huge range of inspiring clients, helping them to turn their ideas into reality and get the best from - and for - their people.
Our people are not only exceptional at what they do, they also enjoy doing it and consistently give their best to a firm that they are proud to be part of. This stems from our
firm culture
and our ethos of
bravery and kindness
. That ethos runs through everything we do, from our approach to recruitment, business practices, and DEI activities, to the day-to-day environment in our office and our relationships with clients.
With an internationally minded team of more than 700 working across key areas of law - plus strategic partnerships around the world - we have both the combination and calibre of legal experts it takes to enable our clients' businesses to thrive. Whether it is providing global employment law advice, managing a global IP portfolio or advising a senior individual on a complex, multi-jurisdictional matter, we are able to have the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
About the team
Consistently top-ranked amongst our peers for over two decades, we advise UK and multinational clients of all sizes, with most of our Partners independently rated as leaders in the field. Not only do we have the largest employment team in the UK, we have truly global reach as members of Ius Laboris, the world's leading employment law alliance, and with our Asia Pacific base in Hong Kong, and our Dublin offices.
We help clients realise the potential in their people and navigate their strategic legal issues, with dedicated specialists in all areas of employment law, and a track record of leading precedent setting cases on issues of the day.
About the Senior Executive group
Our dynamic and highly respected Senior Executive group sits within the wider Employment team. We are one of a handful of practices with a specialist group of lawyers dedicated to advising high earning individuals at the top of their professions. We advise senior executives (including CEOs, consultants, LLP members, board directors, founders and shareholders) at every stage of their career.
We are able to take on the most complex and high value cases, because we provide top quality training and experience to our team. We take this seriously - our focus is firmly on high value, higher quality work, and we have developed an outstanding reputation in this area. Consequently, we have been consistently top ranked by the leading directories in this area, year after year.
About the role
The role will be based in our London office. The successful candidate will work principally with partners in servicing, and further developing, the senior executive practice.
We advise senior management, as well as a wider range of professionals, drawn in particular (though not exclusively) from the financial sector, including private equity and hedge funds. We are often asked to advise founders, and other forms of significant equity holders, on their rights.
You will work closely with partners in a supporting role, as well as run your own matters under supervision. Your typical workload is likely to include advising on sensitive discrimination, whistleblowing, and contract (typically bonus) claims, covering both Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation. This is often against some form of regulatory backdrop. You will also be advising on less contentious exits with relatively complex contractual arrangements, and, often, a significant reputation management component.
About you
We do not expect you necessarily to have extensive prior experience of advising senior executives in the areas above. However, as a team, we all find that our work assisting individuals is varied, stimulating, and genuinely rewarding. The successful candidate will share a natural enthusiasm for this work.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Sound technical knowledge of core employment law such as unfair dismissal and discrimination
Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
An ambitious, proactive, curious, commercial, responsive attitude
A keen interest in developing their marketing and business development skills
Comfortable with taking responsibility for work output and dealing directly with clients
A team player who is keen to support others to learn and who is keen to learn and develop their own skills
